Job description
Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the maintenance team, including handymen and contractors.
  • Plan, supervise, and execute preventative and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure all building systems are fully operational, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water systems, access control, geysers, gas, and laundry facilities.
  • Oversee CAPEX and OPEX budgets for maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
  • Develop and implement a maintenance schedule and lifecycle plan for the property.
  • Monitor maintenance requests, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct inspections for entry, exit, and room readiness.
  • Coordinate with Property Managers, Debtors, and other departments to support operations and student experience.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including OHS, BCEA, LRA, and National Building Regulations.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, contractor performance, and asset management.
  • Assist in training and evaluating maintenance staff to ensure high performance and service quality.

  • Proven experience in facilities or maintenance management, preferably in student accommodation or property management.
