Duties & Responsibilities

On‑site service and repairs to all makes of beams, electric overhead cranes, electric rope hoists, electric chain hoists, mechanical chain‑blocks, and lever blocks, including ancillary equipment such as festoon systems, supply systems and safety systems.
Installation, testing and calibration of load limiting devices and in‑house proof load testing to beams, travelling cranes, rope hoists and chain hoists as prescribed by OHSA. Modifications to upgrade electrical and mechanical units, rigging, dismantling and moving of machinery and equipment, client liaison, administration and correspondence.
Proven experience conducting inspections and testing of lifting equipment with strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME and other relevant regulations. Proficiency in using inspection tools, instruments and software for assessing performance, including load cells, dynamometers and non‑destructive testing methods. Review maintenance records, logbooks and service reports, document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports for clients or regulatory authorities. Provide guidance on safe operation, maintenance and use of lifting equipment and collaborate with engineering teams for equipment modifications and upgrades. Stay updated on industry regulations, standards and technological advancements; participate in safety meetings, training sessions and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety. Maintain professional certifications and licenses required for performing inspections.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric (advantage). Lifting Machinery Certificate. LMI registration with relevant authority. Minimum 5 years’ experience within the lifting machinery industry. Complete knowledge of lifting equipment. Medicals must be in order and have good health. Valid driver’s licence.
