This senior leadership role within Group FRM supports the Head of Group FRM and requires deep expertise in Financial Resource Management, capital allocation, and bank balance‑sheet dynamics. The role identifies key strategic focus areas, drives complex analytical projects, and delivers high‑quality insights that inform capital allocation decisions across the group. As a senior specialist, it provides direction, quality assurance, and leadership to Group and business unit FRM teams—enhancing capital visibility, strengthening insight quality, and highlighting optimisation opportunities.
The role’s primary purpose is to deliver high‑quality analytics, insights, and recommendations that influence strategic capital allocation across the Group. Responsibilities include leading major FRM projects, prioritising analytical workstreams, and ensuring timely, robust delivery of complex tasks.
Success in the role requires strong expertise in capital allocation, balance‑sheet dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and FRM methodologies. The incumbent must interrogate data rigorously, challenge assumptions, and enhance the impact and credibility of insights.
The role engages extensively with senior stakeholders—consolidating inputs, delivering concise analysis for decision‑making discussions, and communicating complex FRM concepts in a clear and accessible manner for senior and executive management.
The successful candidate provides leadership to junior team members through guidance, technical support, and quality assurance, thereby strengthening overall capability and consistency within the Group FRM function.
Source, validate, and continuously monitor data from various internal and external sources to support advanced FRM analytics.
Interrogate data rigorously, challenge assumptions, and ensure all inputs meet accuracy, completeness, and reliability standards.
Analyse complex financial, capital, regulatory, and business datasets to identify material trends, emerging risks, and optimisation opportunities.
Translate analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights and well‑reasoned recommendations for senior and executive stakeholders.
Produce concise, structured, and impactful management information packs, dashboards, and reports tailored to senior audiences.
Present technical FRM and capital‑related insights clearly and persuasively, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
Identify FRM‑relevant issues, initiate appropriate analytical or strategic projects, and manage them from scoping to completion.
Lead FRM projects and workstreams, set priorities, manage timelines, and ensure delivery of high‑quality, technically sound outputs.
Provide guidance, coaching, and rigorous quality assurance to junior team members.
Engage effectively with senior executives across Treasury, Risk, Capital Management, Finance, and business units to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and align priorities.
Consolidate diverse stakeholder perspectives into a coherent strategic viewpoint that supports group‑level decision‑making.
Build strong, collaborative relationships supporting both recurring reporting cycles and project‑based work.
CA(SA), CFA
Deep understanding of capital, liquidity, and balance‑sheet regulatory requirements.
Strong knowledge of banking products, financial considerations, and modelling approaches.
Comprehensive understanding of value and return drivers (capital, risk, funding, margins, portfolio dynamics).
Awareness of market and sector trends, with ability to contextualise insights.
Advanced proficiency with analytical and data‑driven tools used to build and refine management information.
Strong capability in interrogating large datasets, challenging assumptions, and deriving clean, robust insights.
Ability to simplify complex FRM and capital concepts for senior audiences.
Strong critical‑thinking ability; comfortable challenging viewpoints and pressure‑testing assumptions.
Excellent presentation and communication skills for senior and executive audiences.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects and team workloads under tight deadlines.
Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills across Treasury, Risk, Capital Management, Finance, and other business units.
Demonstrated leadership in coaching, capability development, and uplifting delivery standards.
