We're looking for a Laboratory Technician – Water Quality to join our dynamic team at KFC Rohloff Group. This role is responsible for conducting water sampling, testing, and analysis in accordance with SANS 241 standards, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements. You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, perform chemical and microbiological tests, record accurate data, and prepare detailed reports. The successful candidate will support environmental monitoring programs and contribute to maintaining safe and sustainable water systems across our operations.
What You'll Be Cooking Up:
- Water Sample Testing (SANS 241 Compliance): Expertise in conducting water sampling and testing in strict accordance with SANS 241 standards to ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Laboratory Setup & Process Management: Ability to organize and maintain laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Proficient in calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments to guarantee accurate and reliable test results.
- Sample Handling & Documentation: Skilled in proper sample collection, labeling, storage, and meticulous documentation to maintain traceability and integrity.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Strong focus on implementing quality control measures and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Safety & Regulatory Adherence: Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and following all relevant safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure drawings meet project requirements. Generate accurate construction drawings and details.
What You Bring to the Table:
- 3 years’ experience in an accredited water-testing laboratory (SANS 241 or equivalent).
- Proven track record in microbiological, chemical, and physical water testing.
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, compliance requirements, and quality assurance standards.
- Skilled in sample preparation, reagent handling, and sterilization procedures.
- Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including pH meters, incubators, turbidity meters, colorimeters, and spectrophotometers.
- Familiarity with ISO, SANS, and GLP laboratory operating standards.
- Ability to complete accurate laboratory reports and capture results in LIMS or manual log sheets.
- High attention to detail and precision in measurements.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for investigating abnormal results and reporting non‑conformances.
- Commitment to following SOPs, safety protocols, and contamination control measures.
- Experience handling and disposing of chemical reagents and hazardous materials according to safety standards.
- Good technical understanding of instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to manage multiple samples simultaneously.
- Computer literacy for data entry, report generation, and documentation.
- Effective communication skills for reporting and quality discussions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
