About the Role

The Junior Accountant supports the Finance team by ensuring accurate financial records, timely month‑end close activities, and strong balance sheet control across the organisation and its project entities. The role is well‑suited to a detail‑oriented finance professional seeking exposure to project‑based accounting within the renewable energy sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accruals & Month‑End Journals

• Prepare and post monthly accruals, provisions, and standard journals in line with IFRS and company accounting policies.
• Support the month‑end close process by ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
• Assist with expense allocations across projects, SPVs, and cost centres.
• Maintain supporting schedules for all journals and accruals.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including but not limited to:
  • Fixed Assets
• Cash and bank
• Accruals and provisions
• Leases:
  • Prepayments and deposits
  • Intercompany balances
  • VAT control accounts
  • General ledger suspense accounts
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items timeously.
• Ensure reconciliations are reviewed and approved in accordance with internal controls.

Fixed Assets

• Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy of asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Capitalize assets in line with approved budgets, project milestones, and accounting standards.
• Perform periodic fixed asset reconciliations between the fixed asset register and general ledger.
• Support asset verification and audit processes.

Intercompany & Accounts Receivable (AR) Invoicing

• Prepare and process intercompany and AR invoices in accordance with contractual agreements and transfer pricing policies.
• Maintain revenue schedules for various management service, OM, DEV and AM contracts.
• Ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenue between group entities and SPVs.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and resolve discrepancies with counterpart finance teams.
• Monitor outstanding intercompany and AR balances and support collection processes where required.

Audit & Compliance Support

• Provide audit support by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, IFRS, VAT regulations, and company policies.
• Assist with ad‑hoc finance tasks and projects as required.

Required Skills and Educational Background

• BCom Degree Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Exposure to month‑end close processes.
• ERP or accounting system experience (e.g. Sage, SAP, Microsoft BC or F&O, Oracle, Xero).
• Basic understanding of IFRS and VAT principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
