Santam Operations, Commercial Contact Centre have career opportunities available for Insurance Consultants based in Cape Town, Bellville. The insurance consultant role is focused on providing an end-to-end service and support to intermediaries.

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribution to the net profit and growth targets for business.
  2. Delivering exceptional service that exceeds customers’ expectations through proactive, innovative, and appropriate solutions.
  3. Providing telephonic/email support to the intermediary on record, authorised representatives from the brokerage, and broker services.
  4. Analysing the request from the intermediary and providing a quotation to secure the business (conversion).
  5. Initiating out dials to intermediaries to discuss quotations and/or convert policies.
  6. New business issuance.
  7. Assisting to resolve all insurance queries within required timeframe and compliance requirements.
  8. Managing client expectations on expected turnaround times for submitted requests.
  9. Adhering to underwriting criteria and regional requirements.
  10. Assisting with profiling the client with the best suitable product and underwriting criteria.
  11. Assisting in implementing solutions for improvement.
  12. Adhering to workforce management principles to ensure that we optimize productivity.
  13. Prioritising own workflow and ensuring work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality, and timelines; using performance management systems to improve personal performance.
  14. Standing in for consultants should they be absent or on leave during busy periods or absence of key resources, assisting where required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Matric / Grade 12
  2. 60 FAIS credits - Commercial lines
  3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Short Term Insurance - Commercial Lines
  4. Proven work experience in commercial underwriting within the short-term insurance industry
  5. A relevant insurance-related qualification (e.g., NQF level 4) would be advantageous
  6. Preferable work experience in agriculture would be advantageous

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Use of clear and effective verbal communication skills to request information and correspond with intermediaries.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborating with internal colleagues and external stakeholders/clients.
  3. Ensure adherence to quality, compliance, and accreditation standards.
  4. Conduct efficient administration.
  5. Optimising work processes.
