It’s a blend of strategic planning and day-to-day delivery: from workforce planning and talent acquisition to compliance, employee relations, facilities, and vendor management.
Who the Client Is
An international carrier with deep roots in Asia and a strong footprint across Africa, the Middle East, and emerging markets. The organisation is financially robust, innovation-oriented, and committed to sustainable shipping. Locally, they are scaling operations in Tanzania and value pragmatic leadership, cultural fluency, and resilient execution.
What You’ll Do
Establish and lead HR & Admin for the Tanzania agency: org design, policies, SOPs, and reporting rhythms.
Ensure full compliance with Tanzanian employment legislation; manage ER matters, investigations, and fair processes.
Partner with the Country Head and regional leaders on workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention.
Implement performance management, learning plans, and leadership development aligned to business goals.
Oversee payroll inputs, benefits administration, records, contracts, and HRIS data integrity.
Lead office administration: facilities, vendors, travel, procurement controls, and HSE coordination.
Drive change initiatives and culture programmes that promote engagement, DEI, and ethical conduct.
Track HR metrics (time-to-hire, turnover, absenteeism, training hours, engagement insights) and present to leadership.
Champion continuous improvement and digital ways of working to boost service quality and efficiency.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree/diploma in HR, Business Administration, or related field; 10+ years’ relevant experience within multinational or regional organisations.
Strong, practical knowledge of Tanzanian employment law and ER disciplines.
Proven stakeholder management and communication skills across levels and cultures.
High adaptability, resilience, and sound judgement in fast-moving environments.
Detail-driven, solutions-oriented, and comfortable balancing strategic and operational priorities.
What Success Looks Like
Tanzania HR framework, policies, and SOPs implemented and audited within agreed timelines.
Compliance assured; ER matters handled fairly, consistently, and on time.
Roles filled on time with quality hires; onboarding that accelerates productivity.
Engaged, values-aligned culture with clear performance goals and development plans.
Reliable reporting and insights that inform leadership decisions and improve outcomes.
Efficient office administration with controlled costs, reliable vendors, and safe facilities.
The Rewards & the Challenge
You’ll shape a country function with regional visibility, working across diverse teams and priorities. Success requires comfort with ambiguity, regulatory rigor, and the ability to shift between the boardroom and the front line—often in the same day.
