Job summary

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. A Basic R.425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A Degree in Nursing/Post-basic qualification in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration, currently registered with SANC. Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing or Psychology Level 3. Moderator and Assessor course registered with SANC. Minimum of 9 years’ appropriate/recognized nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur. A minimum of five (5) years’ recognizable experience in Nursing Education after obtaining a post-basic qualification in Nursing Education. A minimum of three (3) years’ recognizable experience in the Psychiatric Nursing Department or Counselling Department Computer literacy. Valid driver's license. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of planning, organizing, evaluating, leading, and controlling operational activities. Sound communication skills, with proven ability in supervision, report writing, and professional presentations. Knowledge of procedures and processes for Postgraduate Diploma programmes, relevant legislation, the Code of Ethics, and SANC professional practice requirements. Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
Duties
  • Management and supervision of the Student Counselling and Development Department. Plan and manage learner counselling and support programmes. Implement life and study skills for students. Assessment and referral of individual students with personal problems. Promote general welfare, personal and professional development of students. Support and guidance of students. Conduct a classroom presentation to improve academic performance. Policy development, review, and evaluation. Participate in the planning and implementation of graduation and prize-giving ceremonies. Report on all Student Counselling matters. Communicate with the relevant stakeholders to ensure an effective learning and teaching environment. Participate in the overall management of the College and actively contribute to GCON and Campus committee activities.
