The purpose of the role is Strategic development of the Retail Media Advertising department, scale the Retail Media business to boost company profitability overall, and stay ahead of emerging opportunities and market trends to develop strategies and gain market share.
This position reports to the Group Executive: Advertising
Your responsibilities will include:
Growth and Strategic Development:
- Refine and develop Retail strategies alongside team leaders.
- Scale the Retail Media business to boost company profitability overall.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives for growth.
- Strategic development of the Retail Media Advertising department.
- Stay ahead of emerging opportunities and market trends to develop strategies and gain market share.
- Bottom-up Budget planning for business as usual and growth initiatives in collaboration with other senior key stakeholders.
- Executive-level client management experience: meet with strategic high-level suppliers, sellers and agencies.
Team Management and Leadership:
- Build a world-class Retail Media Sales & Operations team.
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and performance-manage business development and client service teams.
- Experience in scaling a business and managing high- performance teams.
Performance and Revenue Management:
- Meet sales performance and revenue targets and manage sales strategies.
- Ensure accurate progress recording & forecasting through utilization of the CRM system.
- Oversee sales performance, understand challenges, and implement solutions to address challenges
- Establish and maintain SOPs for Sales and Operations to ensure effective and high-performance campaign execution.
- Implement and incorporate routines of regularly tracking NPS and other quality KPIs ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Focus on customer satisfaction, portfolio growth, and retention.
Cross-departmental leadership:
- Cross-departmental alignment on campaign initiatives (Black
- Friday etc).
- Leverage data and insights to optimize campaigns and services.
- Oversee campaign strategy, including costing strategic high- value campaigns and ensuring profitability.
- Optimize pricing strategies for advertising solutions.
- Exposure to media strategy, campaign planning, and measuring investment performance/yield.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate across multiple teams to create and maintain efficient collaborative processes (marketing, retail buying, BI data, legal, finance, product teams, etc).
- Implement efficient processes and systems to support an effective sales team and campaign operations.
Brand Development and Innovation:
- Own Go-to-market strategy for Sponsored Product, Display and other advertising solutions.
- Create consistent Takealot Advertising brand identity and documentation incorporating the set identity.
- Ensure all customer interactions/materials are of exceptional quality and in line with brand.
- Gather market feedback for prioritization of improvements or new products to launch.
- Commercialize Takealot Advertising offerings and maintain the advertising rate card.
- Establish a world-class advertising business on- and off- platform.
- Align with Executive on Takealot Advertising Marketing budget (hosting of events, sponsorships, online advertising, etc).
- Collaborate with Marketing on the execution of Takealot Advertising marketing budget.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor in Degree in Business, OR Higher Certificate in digital marketing with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- At least 8 years in a senior role in the advertising, marketing or SaaS industry.
- At least 5 years of senior leadership experience.
- Experience in scaling a business and managing high- performance teams.
- Proven track record of sales management success and achieving targets.
- Executive-level client management experience.
- Previous experience in eCommerce, retail, classifieds or digital advertising environment.
- Exposure to media strategy, campaign planning, and measuring investment performance/yield.
