Job Description

This position is responsible for various financial accounting services functions as well as being responsible for the preparation and submission of required tax returns of the organization. Examine accounts and records and compute taxes owed according to prescribed laws and regulations. Ensure that the organization complies with periodic tax payments, information reporting and other tax authority requirements. Organize and maintain tax records and conduct tax studies and special projects. Assist with the general accounting functions, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly management reports.

Duties and Responsibilities
General Accounting Functions
  • Reconcile bank accounts and related general ledger accounts
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Assist in the preparation of Group and Company financial statements
  • Prepare and process journal entries to the general ledger, including accruals and provisions, and make necessary adjustments
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets, assist management with budget guidelines and updates
  • Prepare and reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Balance debtors and creditors sub-ledgers to the general ledger
  • Reconcile cash sales accounts and perform accurate bank reconciliations
  • Investigate and clear reconciling items, especially long-outstanding entries, on all ledger accounts
  • Prepare and review financial reports
  • Analyse monthly management reports with financial insights including variance analysis
  • Assist with annual audit and tax pack preparations ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Raise appropriate provisions and accruals in accordance with accounting standards
  • Investigate resolve queries from debtors and creditors to ensure timely settlement and accuracy
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and other stakeholders as required
Tax Functions
  • Assist with the completion of the Company’s tax return
  • Assist with the preparation of the Company’s Transfer Pricing Report
  • Ensure the Groups VAT and Income TAX returns are filed and payments are made timeously
  • Ensure all tax deadlines are met
  • Ensure all SARS audit queries are answered timeously or brought to the attention of the Group Finance Manager
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and maintain/monitor the Company’s good standing with SARS
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation and recent tax cases and ensure all changes are communicated
  • Review tax journals processed and ensure that they are accurate and completed timeously
