Job Description
A well-established property organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead and strengthen its finance function. This role is suited to a hands‑on finance professional who is confident operating at both operational and strategic levels and who has proven experience implementing and optimising financial systems, particularly Xero. This is a full‑time role with flexibility through a hybrid working arrangement, 2‑3 days in‑office per week.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Manager will take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective cash flow management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full finance function, including the supervision and development of the finance team
- Oversee monthly payroll processes and related statutory submissions
- Ensure full compliance with South African tax legislation, including income tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL
- Manage all SARS e‑filing submissions and related reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure accurate reporting up to the balance‑sheet level
- Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial and operational reports for executive management
- Oversee debtors and creditors functions, including controls, reconciliations, and cash collections
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision‑making at CEO and Board level
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and company financial policies
- Perform and authorise bank reconciliations and payment processes
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and short‑ and medium‑term financial projections
- Plan, track, and manage capital expenditure in line with approved budgets
- Lead the setup, implementation, and optimisation of Xero accounting processes and workflows
- Maintain strong internal controls, financial governance, and audit readiness
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting
- A postgraduate qualification is advantageous
- Professional qualification will be an advantage: CA(SA), AG(SA), SAIPA
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ finance lead experience
- Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and compliance
- Proficiency in Xero (or similar cloud‑based systems), MS Excel, and financial reporting tools
- Experience in property, asset management, or audit environments is advantageous
- Proven track record in preparing Financial Statements
