Job summary

A leading finance firm in Johannesburg seeks a Finance Assistant for a 6-month maternity cover contract. The role demands excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail and work well in a team environment while maintaining communication with clients. Previous experience in finance is preferred. Competitive compensation is offered.

Overview

Finance Assistant - Contract

Do you possess excellent communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks? The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, critical thinking, accuracy and interpersonal skills.

Reason for vacancy: Maternity Cover

Reporting to: Head of Finance

Management level: This is not a management role

Working environment & travel: High intensity fast paced office-based role. There is a great deal of teamwork but strong individual accountability for this role.

Working hours: 07:30–16:00 or 08:00–16:30 or 08:30–17:00

This is a 6 month contract for maternity cover.

Key deliverables
  • Accuracy, correctness, 100% spot on, all the time.
  • Always ready to assist all members of the team.
  • Attend to any client / internal/audit queries and provide feedback within a stipulated time frame.
  • Assisting the Manager with a variety of finance issues.
  • Scheduling meetings as required.
  • Promptly answering the questions of staff and clients.
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining relationships with customers.
  • Collection of debtors within due dates.
  • Allocation of debtors payments.
  • Resolution of debtor queries in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Collection of Withholding tax certificates from African countries.
  • Reconciliations and allocations of Withholding tax certificates.
Technical knowledge, skills & abilities
  • Strong multi-tasking skills is a must to ensure various duties are performed accurately and on time.

  • Critical analytical thinking: using logic and reasoning to identify the urgency of certain tasks.

Education & qualifications
  • Matric certificate.
  • Any relevant tertiary qualification (an advantage).
Details of experience
  • Good PC literacy.
  • Experience as a finance assistant, 2-3 years, will be an advantage.
  • MS Office.
  • Xero.
  • Zoho (CRM).
