Job summary

A leading telecommunications company in Soweto seeks a Maintenance Technical Assistant to assist in fibre network maintenance. The ideal candidate will maintain a clean work environment, ensure tools are functional, support fibre installations, perform testing, and comply with safety standards. Applicants should have Grade 12 and ideally some experience in a similar role. This position is essential for the smooth operation of our fibre network and requires effective teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Preferably have Grade 12 (Matric).
• Possess CFOT certification (advantageous).
• Have 12 months’ experience in a similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Fibre Technician with network maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.
• Manage and organise cables on slack brackets.
• Perform OTDR monitoring and save test traces accurately.
• Comply with all SHEQ policies and procedures.
• Support fibre installations and general field work.

Skills

Fault finding and troubleshooting

Fibre duct and cable installation

Fibre splicing and testing

Installation of ONTs and routers

Education

Grade 12 (Matric) preferred

CFOT certification
