Our client, a well-established blueberry farm in Tzaneen, Limpopo Province, is seeking an experienced Farm Manager.

The Farm Manager will oversee daily farm operations, including pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest activities, and manage all aspects of crop production and farm maintenance.

Location: Tzaneen, Limpopo

Minimum Qualifying Criteria:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in agricultural operations, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience with growing green peppers/chillies/baby marrow/ginger/turmeric or sweetcorn would be advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license essential.
  • Knowledge of fertilizer and chemical application.
  • Expertise in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of field activities and employee documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team.
  • Conversational proficiency in both English and Afrikaans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Farm Operations Management:
    • Oversee and coordinate year-round field operations, including land preparation, fumigation, planting, cultivation, irrigation, pest scouting, pesticide applications, fertilization, weed control, and more.
  • Crop Management:
    • Provide input on land analysis, crop rotation, crop yields, and spray programs.
    • Monitor and manage crop growth and address weed and disease control to ensure optimal yield.
  • Staff Supervision:
    • Lead and manage field crews during all phases of farm operation—pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest.
    • Train and oversee general laborers, ensuring they adhere to safety standards and farm procedures.
  • Budgeting & Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of farm budgets and monitor field operations within budget constraints.
    • Maintain detailed computerized records of field activities, timesheets, and maintenance logs.
