The ideal candidate must have a B.Sc/B.Eng/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years of experience, including 5 in management roles. Our client, a state-of-the art technology and manufacturing company, is searching for an exceptional Facilities Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the integrated and efficient management of facilities projects, utility engineering services and environmental variables.

Minimum Requirements
  • B.Sc / B.Eng or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Post Graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
  • GCC would be an added advantage.
  • Project Management qualification would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years experience, with at least 5 years in a Management role.
  • Proven experience in facilities and / or construction management, utilities management, project management, contractor management and manufacturing best practices and processes will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic managerial leadership and direction to the Facilities department to ensure optimal operations and delivery of services, and alignment of deliverables with organisational goals, to ensure business continuity, continuous improvement, compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Provide expertise in all aspects of the site's physical infrastructure including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); structural and civil engineering requirements; lighting; roofing; fire protection; and other specific structural needs.
  • Serve as a lead in analysing the facility infrastructure for deficiencies and inefficiencies (and implement corrective actions).
  • Ensure all planned preventative maintenance is scheduled and completed timeously to high standards.
  • Ensure the effective execution of facilities-related projects to meet business objectives in accordance with specifications.
  • Implement and maintain an operational risk management strategy in accordance with the company's management framework.
  • Establish service standards, measures, and performance reporting and create an environment that enables and promotes optimal business operations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish short and long‑term plans on production, maintenance, security, material handling, and product control processes.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, practices, and compliance with the OHS Act and all associated regulations including General Machinery Regulations and Construction Regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage Opex and Capex budgets and monitor expenses ensuring expenditure is within the budget and continuously strive to save costs.
  • Build enduring technical and maintenance capabilities to ensure quality, health & safety objectives including statutory obligations are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure effective resource planning, allocation, and coordination of staff, providing leadership and guidance based on best practices and expertise.
  • Facilitate the continuous improvement and enhancement of processes and systems within the department.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports, build a high‑performance culture within the department, and motivate staff to deliver results.
  • Identify hazards associated with assigned tasks and accelerate escalation of hazards that cannot be mitigated.
  • Put in place effective self‑verification processes.
  • Ensure effective asset and engineering management systems and processes in Facilities to deliver integrity and reliability of the assets, and ensure ISO certification is maintained.
