Job Summary Statement
Managing and overseeing the effective repair and maintenance of all earthmoving equipment. Ensure to achieve, or exceed, equipment availability of at least 85% for all equipment on site.
Key Performance Areas (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Plant (Earthmoving Equipment) Performance
- Scheduling of services and ensure all the paper work is in order.
- Co‑ordinate the inspection lists and delegate daily duties to the Plant Foreman.
- Co‑ordinate the daily duties of the service supervisors.
- Monitor equipment availabilities on a daily basis.
- Follow up on breakdowns as a matter of urgency.
- Maintain an 85% fleet availability.
- Minimise all fleet downtime and treat with sense of urgency.
- Job planning on a daily basis.
- Plant Administration Function

- Ensure compliance to Safety & Quality policies, procedures and standards
Academic Qualifications & Requirements
- Trade qualification Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic and / or National Diploma / Degree Mechanical Engineering(Strong advantage)
- No criminal record
- Valid Driver's license
Experience
- At least five years' experience in a Workshop Manager position (Sect 13 Artisan) or alternatively 3-5 years' in a similar level role (N. Dip / Degree : Mechanical Engineering)
- At least two years technical service experience.
- Major rebuild of heavy earthmoving equipment.
