A leading financial services group in South Africa is seeking an experienced Digital Product Owner to lead cross-functional teams in delivering high-quality digital products. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in a financial services environment, a strong background in UX principles, and proficiency in tools such as Jira and Confluence. The role involves stakeholder engagement, product launch coordination, and continuous product improvement based on user feedback.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Digital Product Owner or Senior Digital Business Analyst in finance or insurance.
  • Proven success in managing and scaling digital products or self-service platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional squad to deliver high-quality digital products.
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive user experiences.
  • Act as the bridge between business and technology for transparent communication.
  • Coordinate product launches with various teams and define KPIs for success.

What will make you successful in the role
Product Delivery & Execution
  • Lead a cross‑functional squad (designers, BAs, engineers) to deliver high‑quality digital products.
  • Align teams on priorities, ensure incremental business value, and resolve risks or blockers proactively.
  • Partner with Scrum Masters and Technical Leads for sprint alignment and timely feature releases.
User Experience (UX)
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive, human‑centered experiences.
  • Guide UX concepts and approve prototypes to ensure alignment with product goals and user needs.
  • Prioritise features and enhancements based on client value and business objectives.
  • Maintain a refined backlog with clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and success measures.
  • Balance innovation, technical feasibility, and business constraints.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the bridge between business and technology, ensuring transparent communication.
  • Gather insights from stakeholders and review BA specifications for clarity and alignment.
  • Present progress and updates to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
Product Launch & Go‑to‑Market
  • Coordinate launches with Change Management, Marketing, and Communications.
  • Define KPIs for adoption and impact; support post‑launch reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance using analytics and feedback; implement enhancements to boost usability and satisfaction.
  • Foster a culture of data‑driven decisions and innovation.
Cross‑functional Collaboration
  • Work with teams across Santam (Architecture, Marketing, Compliance, IT, Operations, Analytics) to align digital initiatives with business objectives.
Qualification and experience

Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Digital Product Owner /Snr Digital Business Analyst in a financial services or insurance environment.

Minimum Ǫualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, or a related field.

Proven success in managing and scaling digital products or self‑service platforms.

Understanding of UX principles

Familiarity with agile frameworks and digital product delivery

Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, GA4, and Figma.
