The Planning & Optimisation Manager is accountable for the supply plan for critical raw materials and for maintaining the balance between customer demand, supplier performance and inventory levels. In a volatile, highly regulated environment, the role translates S&OP inputs and operational realities into clear, executable supply and inventory plans, while driving ongoing improvements that enhance reliability and support Operations.

Previous experience in demand planning within a chemical or heavy industry is essential.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise operational plans, schedules, and workflows.
  • Analyse operational data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Produce accurate resource forecasts and demand planning models.
  • Support operational teams with short-, medium-, and long-term planning strategies.
  • Monitor adherence to plans and adjust schedules based on operational requirements.
  • Prepare periodic reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across departments.
  • Implement optimisation tools, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain planning systems, databases, and relevant documentation.
  • Identify risks affecting operational delivery and propose mitigation measures.
  • Participate in audits, compliance activities, and internal process evaluations.
Qualifications
  • National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Additional certificates in Planning, Project Management, or Data Analytics (advantageous).
