Northam Mental Health Service is seeking a passionate CAMHS and Adult Psychiatrist to lead, innovate and shape community mental health service across the Wheatbelt region.

About Wheatbelt Mental Health Services

Wheatbelt Mental Health Service delivers high-quality community mental health care including comprehensive assessment and treatment for people of all ages.

Our clinical programs include Aboriginal Mental Health Program (All ages), Adult Mental Health Program (years), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program (0-18 years), Seniors Mental Health Program (65+ years) and Youth Mental Health Program (years).

About The Role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS and Adult Psychiatry to join our dynamic teams in Northam Hospital and occasionally across other Mental Health sites such as Narrogin, Merredin and Gingin in Wheatbelt.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment in a community-based setting.
  • Provide expert leadership, advice and consultation to GPs, healthcare professionals, service providers and carers across the region.
  • Drive the regional implementation of the Infant, Child and Adolescent Taskforce recommendations, ensuring best practice care.
  • Chair CAMHS clinical reviews and uphold compliance with the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation.
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Chief Psychiatrist and local GPs, to deliver seamless, coordinated care.

The Successful Candidates Will
  • Be eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP).
  • Have a Certificate of Child Psychiatry (RANZCP) or approved equivalent.
  • Be an RANZCP trainee in their penultimate year of training and have completed all training requirements.
  • Have substantial clinical experience in general adult, child, adolescent and youth mental health.
  • Be willing to work across other Mental Health sites such as Narrogin, Merredin, and Gingin in Wheatbelt.
  • For applicants from the United Kingdom (UK) or Ireland eligible for the Medical Board of Australia Expedited Specialist Pathway: Hold the MRCPsych (UK) as well as CCT / CCST; have the AMC primary source verification; intend to live and work in Australia permanently.
