A construction management firm in Durban is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee large-scale road and transport infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a B.Tech in Civil Engineering and over 10 years of relevant experience. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in road and transport infrastructure projects.
  • Registration with ECSA or SACPCMP is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of GCC, FIDIC, COLTO, COTO, and SANS.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Oversee site operations ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Manage contracts with contractors and suppliers.
  • Implement quality control processes.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders including clients and authorities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale road and transport infrastructure projects in Durban. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, excellent project management skills, and in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning and Management: Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  2. Site Management: Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
  3. Contract Administration: Manage contracts with contractors, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and resolving disputes.
  4. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  5. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the project.
  6. Stakeholder Management: Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of construction professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: B.Tech Civil Engineering (minimum)
  2. Experience: 10+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in road and transport infrastructure projects
  3. Certifications: Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) would be an advantage
