Job summary

A consultancy is looking for a Quality Control Specialist in Stellenbosch, South Africa. In this role, you will manage specifications, handle customer complaints, and support quality management systems. Ideal candidates will possess at least a Grade 12 qualification along with a relevant diploma, and have a minimum of two years in quality control. Experience with ISO standards is a plus. The position includes administrative tasks and compliance responsibilities, ensuring high standards are maintained.

Job Description
  • Specification Control
    • Manage client online specification portals.
    • Assist with artwork amendments and critical path processes.
    • Manage internal online specification systems.
    • Carry out approval processes for online specifications.
    • Communicate and liaise with clients on quality control matters.
    • Ensure timely internal communication with departmental heads regarding quality-related matters.
  • Customer Complaints
    • Monitor online portals to identify potential customer complaints.
    • Assist with the investigation and close-out of complaints.
    • Administer customer complaint records and documentation.
    • Receive and process complaints and support investigations to resolution.
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS)
    • Work closely with management and relevant stakeholders to support effective implementation of QMS.
    • Facilitate sessions to align on procedures, best practices, and solutions.
    • Administer QMS meetings and related documentation.
    • Track, coordinate, and report on corrective actions to completion.
    • Perform QMS audit activities when required.
  • Document Control
    • Ensure standardisation of documentation in line with certification standards.
    • Administer, process, and control the distribution of QMS documentation.
    • Assist with the rollout of new standards and standardisation projects.
  • Auditing Systems (Internal, External & Third-Party)
    • Schedule, administer, and coordinate internal, supplier, and external audits.
    • Perform internal audits and manage audit administration.
    • Upload final audit reports to systems and ensure accurate record keeping.
    • Participate in supplier audits and manage post-audit communication.
    • Coordinate audit logistics and preparation for third-party certification audits.
    • Coordinate mock recall exercises and conduct traceability audits.
    • Serve as a Quality Systems Lead Auditor when required.
  • Health, Safety and Housekeeping
    • Assist in maintaining hygiene management procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with company and statutory health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
  • Databases and Systems
    • Administer and maintain compliance-related online portals and databases.
    • Manage legislative updates, documentation, and procedures timeously and accurately.
  • Supplier Development
    • Assist suppliers and producers with preparation for compliance audits.
    • Participate in supplier audits and follow up on non-conformances.
    • Upload final audit reports and ensure close-out of corrective actions.
    • Participate in training sessions, meetings, and compliance-related projects.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Appropriate degree or National Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Exposure to quality systems, social compliance, food safety standards, and enterprise systems is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ quality control experience in a similar environment.
  • Active participation in Quality Management System implementation and maintenance (e.g. ISO standards).
