Join Exxaro Resources as a Chief Occupational Nurse at our Matla Coal business unit, located in Kriel, Mpumalanga. This permanent position involves developing and overseeing Primary and Occupational Health programs, ensuring compliance with statutory and company standards. With a minimum B Tech in Occupational Health Nursing and 5 years of relevant experience, you will manage occupational health initiatives, collaborate with health practitioners, and provide emergency medical services when necessary. You will supervise and inspire the nursing team, optimise staffing, and manage a medical budget effectively. Your role includes maintaining a safe work environment, promoting health and safety, and implementing HIV/AIDS and TB programs. Minimum Requirements
  • B Tech in Occupational Health Nursing (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate in First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Occupational Health Nursing, including TB/HIV training and Primary Health Care Management
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (Essential/Minimum)
  • Possession of a Dispensing License (Essential/Minimum)
  • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Experience in managing health programs and ensuring compliance with Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies
  • Strong skills in staff performance management and service delivery optimization
  • Proven ability to handle administrative tasks, maintain health records, and develop health-related programs
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, annual, and exit medical assessments to monitor employee health and compliance with health standards.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of Primary and Occupational Health programs, ensuring alignment with best practices and statutory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to health service staff, ensuring effective performance management and professional development.
  • Manage the health services budget by forecasting costs, monitoring expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Occupational Hygienists to assess and monitor employee exposure to hazardous substances, ensuring appropriate health surveillance measures are in place.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures through effective governance and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder and client relationships to facilitate effective delivery of health services and programs.
  • Oversee the management and control of chronic diseases, HIV/AIDS strategy implementation, and TB programs.
  • Ensure the safe storage and availability of medical records, facilitating accurate health assessments and treatment provisions.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety and quality in health service delivery, addressing potential hazards and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
