Overview
My client is a Financial Services scale-up which launched in 2017. They have been through multiple successful funding rounds (PE & VC), most recently securing equity investment from a specialist family office. They have agreed terms for a significant debt investment of £50 - £100M to support ambitious growth. They have innovative lending solutions for both the legal sector and the probate market, significant addressable markets with an ever-increasing market share. Since inception, the client has built an award-winning team recognised by multiple industry awards. The culture of the business is evident at all levels, which has been a huge part of their success. They balance working hard to achieve goals with learning and having fun along the way.
The successful candidate will join the close-knit Loan Management team. There is a huge opportunity to learn and grow within this role, and to become an expert in the matrimonial and probate lending sector.
Responsibilities
- Case management:
- Managing your own caseload and conducting regular reviews of cases, including:
- Obtaining regular updates on legal cases and repayments from solicitors and borrowers
- Comprehensive reviews of the status of the case
- Confirming adherence to the provisioning policy
- Maintaining clear records of updates on the loan management system and internal files
- Collecting and logging data relating to borrowers and their legal cases
- Reviewing legal settlements to identify the route to repayment
- Analyze actual legal settlements versus Levels underwriting
- Updating senior members of the team on the status of cases on a regular basis and reporting any potential issues or breaches
- Reviewing legal settlements and ensuring that all parties have met their obligations to the client and that loan repayment is secure
- Escalating any possible issues and working with the Case Management and Recoveries Lead to remedy any breaches or other problems
- Processing loan term extensions, refinances and changes in solicitor firm
- Collecting and monitoring customer feedback and identifying any trends or the need for any changes to products or processes in line with the FCA Consumer Duty
- Loan facility management:
- Processing all invoices received, obtaining client authorisation for payment, and uploading to the CRM
- Issuing statements of account, redemption statements & annual statements
- Informing Head of Credit and Finance team of any expected repayments and managing redemption process
- Monitoring facility usage versus progress in the underlying litigation
- Identifying and conducting an initial assessment on any possible loan increases before referring to Underwriting
- Document management & Compliance:
- Checking and filing all executed documentation
- Obtaining any outstanding documentation and ensuring all parties meet their obligation
- Ensuring the company’s compliance policies (e.g., AML/data protection) are adhered to in line with FCA regulations
Skills and Qualifications
- A background in Family or Probate Law is a plus
- Highly organized with a strong focus on attention to detail
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and prioritise a varied and changing workload, with a team-first mindset
- Effective communicator who can communicate verbally and in writing both internally, and externally to solicitors and to clients
- Risk-focused and analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to identify potential risks in all decision-making activities
