The successful candidate will receive internal training to introduce them to financial markets concepts and technical work involved in capital markets.

The Role

Join us to keep business‑critical systems healthy and evolving. You’ll support front‑to‑back users, fix issues at source, automate manual work, and ship small to medium enhancements—mainly in Python and SQL—while learning financial‑markets concepts on the job.

What Success Looks Like

• Business support: triage and resolve user issues across Front Office, Middle Office, Market Risk, and Back Office (incl. P&L queries).
• Automation & tooling: script repeatable tasks, build small utilities, and improve data flows.
• Enhancements: develop features and fixes in Python and SQL; contribute to code reviews.
• Quality & reliability: write simple tests, follow change control, and help with UAT.
• Documentation: keep runbooks, fix logs, and user guides current.
• Continuous learning: upskill on pricing basics, market data, and system architecture.
• Collaboration: work closely with quants/analysts/engineers; communicate clearly and professionally.

Minimum Requirements

• 2–3 years relevant work experience.
• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Math/Statistics/Actuarial/Quant Finance/IS (or equivalent).
• Solid Python (preferred) or Java/C#/C++ fundamentals, plus SQL and relational databases.
• Comfort reading logs, tracing data issues, and debugging.
• Clear written/verbal communication; structured problem‑solving; ownership mindset.
• Exposure to financial instruments (pricing basics, market data, curves) advantageous
• Version control (Git), basic CI usage, and familiar testing habits (pytest/JUnit/etc. advantageous
• Experience with a P&L, risk, or trade‑capture system (in‑house or vendor) advantageous.

How We Work

• Consulting/project rhythm; occasional after‑hours support during incidents or cutovers.
• Hybrid with periodic client‑site visits in Johannesburg.
