We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Intermediate/Senior AWS DevOps Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD pipeline implementation, and infrastructure as code (IaC).

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work with leading financial institutions and enterprise clients, building and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud environments on AWS. The candidate should hold the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional certification or be working towards it.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities differ across client engagements but may include:

  • Designing and building scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions using AWS services and infrastructure as code (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions
  • Automating deployment and configuration processes using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Managing containerized environments with Docker and orchestration tools like ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
  • Monitoring application performance and system health with tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Working closely with development and security teams to embed DevSecOps best practices in the SDLC.
  • Maintaining and improving backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies for critical workloads
  • Integrating and managing configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues across various environments
  • Enforcing tagging standards, cost optimization strategies, and resource governance across AWS accounts
  • Managing networking components such as VPCs, subnets, security groups, and route tables
  • Supporting automation of compliance and governance controls aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or POPIA.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
  • In-depth experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, VPC, and IAM
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design, source control (Git), and release management best practices
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS)
  • Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, including VPNs, NAT gateways, load balancers, and routing
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including secrets management, patch management, and encryption
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed systems.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps-driven environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cost optimization and cloud financial management is advantageous.
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional certification is highly preferred.
