Job description
The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For
  • Managing and controlling the processes involved in the hatchery on an operational level
  • Managing staff in a disciplined and effective manner
  • Maintaining the Company’s assets and constantly striving to improve results
  • Work efficiently in a team environment with tact, patience and willingness to work with colleagues
  • Ability to build relationships and be able to work under pressure
  • Maintaining Risk Control/Occupational Health/Bio Security requirements and standards as per relevant Legislation and Astral Standard Operating Practices
  • Control of production processes and responsibility for maintain production standards in terms of quality and volumes
  • Assist with preparing budgets, managing and controlling running expenses
  • Ensuring the highest product quality/hygiene standards is always maintained
  • Adhering to Health and Safety requirements and laws
  • Managing the performance of the team to ensure all KPI’s are achieved daily
  • Implementation and maintain of 20 keys systems
The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements
  • BSC Degree in Agriculture or relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in Hatchery flock management for a minimum period of 10 (ten) years
  • Strong analytical skills relating to hatchery flocks
  • Must be a team player with exceptional leadership skills
  • High level demonstrable performance
  • High technical performance of hatchery flocks
  • Ability to manage staff effectively
  • Fluent in English and a second official language
  • Ability to work in a high pressurised environment and be dealing driven
  • Must have basic knowledge of risk management
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have a driver’s license
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including nightshift and weekends
