Job description

Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to assist artisans and technicians to ensure optimal availability of plant and equipment by minimizing downtime through the effective execution of preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.

Main Responsibilities (not limited to):
  • To assist artisans and technicians in executing all maintenance activities to the required standard.
  • To ensure resources, tools and equipment are available to perform preventative maintenance effectively as instructed by the Artisans and Technicians.
  • To perform housekeeping duties for the workshop and other working areas.
  • To complete small projects as identified and under the supervision of a qualified person.
  • To actively identify and report potential hazards in order to mitigate risks.
  • Perform repairs on equipment and components in line with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and best workmanship practices to restore normal operation.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis in conjunction with Artisans and Technicians by providing accurate information, offering recommendations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures by identifying and mitigating hazards related to assigned tasks, and escalating those that cannot be resolved immediately.
The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:
  • Grade 12.
  • Electrical Trade Test Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Maintenance Electrical.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of basic electrical troubleshooting, including fault-finding and component replacement.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components such as PLCs, VSDs, Motors and etc.
  • Ability to work with hands to remove and fit components in machinery under guidance of artisan or technician.
  • Hands‑on experience with workshop tools and machinery (e.g., grinders, drill press, pipe benders).
