Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management Cost Savings: Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations.
  • Building a values-based organisational culture: Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
  • ESG Compliance: Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the equipment to standard. Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules and work orders are accurately completed. Ensure over-inspections are conducted thoroughly at start of shift. Ensure all No Go’s take priority to ensure safety of operators and employees at the mine. Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications. Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed. Identify opportunities to improve operations. Participation in improvement projects. Support efforts to overcome operational problems. Identify risks and threats to the process proactively. Ensure that the correct tools are used to complete tasks. Ensure that materials and equipment are available for the shifts’ requirements in the area. Communicate equipment defects to the relevant Supervisor or Engineering Foreman via notifications. Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and plans. Ensure that employees work in a safe environment. Supervise allocated multi-task team member in order to complete assigned work tasks or orders. Ensure that the prescribed safety equipment is always worn. Complete and sign off all allocated orders. Communicate process problems to necessary people. Support section team members if they require help. Help engineering employees to maintain equipment in.
  • Production Support: Supports the achievement of production performance. Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from the Engineering Foreman. Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks. Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to the Engineering Foreman in order to complete allocated work orders. Inform the relevant Supervisor when work is being conducted in the area of responsibility. Assist the Safety Officer in completing safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area. Compile accurate shift/work order reports. Ensure that technical data is accurate. Complete requisitions for stock items required. Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers. Complete the necessary job cards relating to the task done including and description of work and spares used. Accurately complete role administration requirements. Ensure the safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment is conducted. Ensure that any operational problem that is encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility. Available for afterhours standby duty.
  • SHE Compliance: Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS): Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System.
  • Focus on safe production & operational excellence: Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence. Improve our position on global industry cost curve.
  • People Management: Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. Ensure fair work allocation for team members. Inspire team members towards high performance.
