Job Overview
Our client is an experienced and dedicated individual to join our school to in the Languages department and be part of the Grade 4 group.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Subject Convenor, Departmental Heads for both phases, Principal, be able to work independently and requires minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Instruction
- Teach Afrikaans FAL to Grades 4 in accordance with the CAPS curriculum.
- Serve as the Homeroom Teacher for Grade 4, providing core instruction, daily pastoral care, and administrative support to the class.
- Create detailed and well-structured lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Integrate ICT and modern teaching strategies to enhance learner engagement and understanding.
Assessment and Reporting
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments in line with CAPS and school standards.
- Mark and moderate learners' work fairly and timeously.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records, including assessments, reports, and learner profiles.
- Compile and submit termly academic reports and attend parent-teacher meetings to communicate learner progress.
Pastoral and Learner Support
- Provide emotional, social, and academic support to Grade 4 learners as their homeroom teacher.
- Identify and support learners with learning barriers or behavioural challenges in collaboration with the SBST and Discipline committee.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, discipline, and a love for learning.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with Departmental Heads, Phase Coordinators, and the Principal to plan and execute curriculum goals and school improvement strategies.
- Participate actively in grade and subject planning teams for consistency and excellence in delivery.
- Communicate regularly with parents / guardians to provide updates and involve them in the learning process.
Professional Conduct and Development
- Adhere to the school's code of conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in staff development workshops, training, and educational conferences as required.
- Maintain professional appearance and uphold the values and ethos of the school.
Extra-Mural and School Activities
- Support or lead extra-mural activities, including cultural, academic, or sport programs as part of holistic learner development.
- Attend and contribute to school events, staff meetings, workshops, and planning sessions beyond the classroom.
Qualifications and Skills
- Holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Intermediate Phase.
- Fully SACE registered.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in the LoLT (English).
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with team members.
- Computer literate and excellent time management skills.
- Good Interpersonal / People / Emotional Intelligence Skills.
- Must be fully proficient in Afrikaans (Read, Write, Comprehension).
