Overview

A reputable accounting firm seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join their firm. The successful candidate will support the finance team with day-to-day accounting functions, assist in maintaining accurate financial records, and contribute to delivering excellent service to clients. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to grow their accounting expertise in a supportive, professional environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, ledgers, and reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank statements and accounts payable/receivable.
  • Prepare cash flow reports and budgets for clients as and when required, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with client-specific financial goals.
  • Assist with VAT, tax submissions, and other SARS Related tasks
  • Manage payroll processing and PAYE/UIF/WCA submissions, ensuring accurate calculations, timely payments, and full compliance with SARS/DoL regulations.
  • Assist with CIPC-related tasks, including company beneficial ownership declarations, annual returns, and maintaining statutory compliance.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all financial data entry.
  • Drafting of Annual Financial Statements, management accounts and other financial reports.
  • Support senior accountants with audits and financial analysis.
  • Handle client queries and provide administrative support when required.
  • Stay up to date with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
