Job summary

A growing restaurant enterprise in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage their financial operations. The role requires a BCom Accounting Degree and a minimum of four years of experience, preferably in hospitality or retail. The ideal candidate must have strong skills in accounting software such as Pastel, Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks, along with excellent Excel abilities. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 16:30, and the position offers the chance to contribute to financial growth and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 4 years’ experience in accounting or administration, preferably in hospitality or retail.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of POS systems.
  • Knowledge of VAT and PAYE compliance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile daily cash-ups.
  • Manage suppliers, invoices, and petty cash.
  • Support payroll process and generate monthly management accounts.

Accountant position available in Cape Town CBD.

Do you have your BCom Accounting Degree with a minimum one to two years experience and would like to work for an expanding restaurant enterprise working Monday to Friday, office hours.

Our client, a vibrant entrepreneurial young team, is looking for your expertise to manage their full financial sector and future growth portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Matric, or relevant qualification
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 4 years’ experience in accounting or admin (hospitality/retail preferred)
  • Proficiency in Pastel, Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of POS systems, VAT, and PAYE compliance is advantageous
  • Hours: Monday – Friday | 09:00 – 16:30

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile daily cash-ups
  • Manage suppliers and supplier invoices, petty cash, and payments
  • Administration relating to POS systems
  • Support the payroll process and general payroll administration
  • Generate reports, and monthly management accounts
  • Oversee VAT and PAYE compliance where necessary
  • Oversee office administration, contracts, and compliance documents
  • Assist with procurement and stock control – placing orders, receiving, checking stock
