About the Role
The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Global industry Analyst (GIA) to join our Industrials team within the Investment Research Group, based in either Singapore or Hong Kong. The GIA will most likely be responsible for researching companies related to Batteries, Building Materials and Heavy Machinery in the APAC and India region(s), aiming to generate differentiated insights by asking innovative questions, anticipating trends, and identifying risks and potential disruptions in these rapidly evolving industries. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate and implement ideas with a highly analytical and detailed approach. They will work closely with an experienced APAC & Japan Industrials GIA in Hong Kong, as well as with regional Portfolio Managers, and other GIAs globally. At Wellington, we view research as a core engine of the investment process, and consider this a career position that can be both highly challenging and rewarding, contributing to the firm's ability to generate alpha for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete complex analytical projects under tight time constraints;

  • Maintain the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models;

  • Contribute to written research and investment discussions in various internal forums;

  • Make investment recommendations to global investment teams;

  • Work to identify emerging research trends' and novel and investable developments.

Essential Skills

We are seeking a self-motivated, diligent team player with a passion for the Industrials sector, and for investing in APAC markets. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent financial modeling abilities, and a desire to apply their expertise to support Wellington’s Global Industry Research Team. The successful candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative investment environment, and will build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues across global teams. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to contribute to an open investment dialogue are essential. A growth mindset, characterized by flexibility and a willingness to continue learning, evolving, and growing as a Global Industry Analyst, is crucial. The GIA will bring a global perspective and a creative approach to analyzing investment opportunities in the region.

The ideal candidate is likely to possess the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record;

  • CFA (or progress towards completion) preferred;

  • 10+ years of relevant financial research experience, ideally including Buy side experience. Experience of covering one or more of the Batteries, Building Materials or Heavy Machinery sectors is highly preferable;

  • Strong financial modeling skills;

  • Sound judgment, strong work ethic and the highest personal and professional integrity;

  • Disciplined, with a strong bottom-up fundamental approach to research;

  • Self-awareness and resilience to be comfortable when wrong;

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with experienced, cross-functional investment teams;

  • Ability to work independently where needed, and to make decisions in the face of uncertainty;

  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Strong communication skills, and a desire and appetite for continuous learning;

  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in Mandarin would be advantageous.
