Role Summary and Impact

This role will directly contribute to regional growth in APAC, aligning with our global strategy of innovation and excellence. We are seeking a Data Strategy Lead to join our APAC team. This critical role will be at the forefront of defining and executing our data strategy across the diverse and rapidly evolving Asia-Pacific markets. You will be instrumental in harnessing data to drive competitive advantage for our clients and our agency, translating complex data landscapes into clear, actionable media strategies. This is a unique opportunity to shape how data is used to inform media planning, audience activation, measurement, and the development of innovative data products, while navigating the unique regulatory and cultural nuances of the region.

Skills and Experience

APAC Data Strategy & Vision (Client & Agency Focus):

  • Develop and articulate a compelling APAC data strategy that aligns with global agency vision, client growth objectives, and regional market realities.
  • Identify key data opportunities to enhance media effectiveness, audience understanding, campaign optimization, and competitive intelligence across APAC.
  • Translate strategic data needs into actionable roadmaps for data acquisition, governance, activation, analytics, and privacy-compliant solutions for clients.

Client & Commercial Impact:

  • Act as a senior data expert and trusted advisor for key clients and internal teams, translating complex data capabilities into tangible business value and media solutions.
  • Identify and scope new data-driven product and service offerings for clients across media planning, buying, and measurement.
  • Partner with New Business teams to showcase our data strategy capabilities, driving agency growth and differentiation.

Data Governance, Privacy & Compliance (Media Context):

  • Lead the establishment and enforcement of robust data governance frameworks, specifically addressing client data privacy, ad-tech regulations (e.g., consent management, cookie deprecation), and data residency requirements across APAC markets.
  • Ensure responsible and ethical data usage in all media applications, collaborating closely with Legal, Privacy, and Client Services teams.

Innovation & Product Development:

  • Drive the exploration and adoption of emerging data technologies, AI/ML applications, and advanced analytics techniques to enhance media performance and client solutions.
  • Collaborate with global and regional product teams to integrate data strategy into the development of proprietary agency tools and platforms (e.g., DMPs, CDPs, attribution models).

Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with senior leaders across global and regional teams, including Client Services, Planning, Investment, Ad-Tech, and Data Science.
  • Champion a data-driven culture, educating internal teams and clients on the power and potential of data in media. Represent the agency at industry events as a data thought leader.

Team Enablement & Data Literacy:

  • Potentially lead and mentor a team of data strategists or specialists, fostering their growth and ensuring best practices are adopted.
  • Drive data literacy initiatives within the agency, empowering teams to leverage data more effectively in their day-to-day roles.
What You'll Need / Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor\'s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics) or Business Analytics.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data strategy, data management, analytics, or a related role within the media, advertising, or ad-tech industry.
  • 5+ years in a leadership or senior strategic role, with a proven track record of driving significant data initiatives.
  • Deep operational experience within the APAC region, demonstrating a nuanced understanding of its diverse markets, regulatory landscapes (e.g., PDPA, regional privacy laws, ad-tech guidelines), and cultural intricacies.
  • Demonstrated success in translating complex data insights into clear, impactful media and business strategies for clients.
  • Strong understanding of the media ecosystem and ad-tech landscape (e.g., DMPs, CDPs, ad servers, measurement platforms, DSPs, SSPs).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their application in media.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools, data quality frameworks, and data security principles, specifically within a media/client context.
  • Experience with advanced analytics techniques, machine learning concepts, and their application in media optimization, audience segmentation, and attribution modelling.
  • Proficiency in SQL; familiarity with Python/R, and BI/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is highly advantageous.
  • Strategic & Client-Facing Skills:
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Highly client-centric with outstanding communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, able to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences (from technical to C-suite clients).
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Strong commercial acumen and project management skills to deliver data solutions that drive measurable ROI.
