Job summary

A leading international law firm is seeking an Associate to join their Projects/Project Finance practice in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have newly qualified to 2 years' PQE with expertise in project finance, particularly in energy and infrastructure sectors. Responsibilities include advising on complex transactions, preparing due diligence reports, and collaborating on various project agreements. This role requires strong drafting skills and the ability to manage complex, time-sensitive transactions.

Job description

We are seeking an Associate to join our Projects/Project Finance practice in Singapore.

Our team is a tier 1 ranked projects team advising sponsors, lenders and investors on many of the most complex and innovative energy and infrastructure projects in the region. You will work predominantly on cross-border transactions across a diverse range of sectors including power and renewables, particularly offshore wind, energy transition, low‑carbon fuel, battery mineral supply chain and digital assets such as towers, sub‑sea cables, and data centres.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Newly Qualified to 2 years' UK-equivalent PQE, with qualification in Singapore, England & Wales, or an equivalent common law jurisdiction.
  • Experience with project finance and power, energy, utilities and infrastructure projects.
  • A working knowledge of general construction and operation contractual arrangements and internationally‑used standard forms would be ideal.
  • Experience advising on APLMA based loan agreements, finance documents and managing conditions precedent.
  • Experience working with DFIs or ECAs is also welcome.
  • Additional experience with other project documentation, such as power purchase agreements, offtake contracts, feedstock and fuel supply contracts, concession contracts, interface agreements and ancillary security documents would be beneficial.
  • International experience and a forward‑thinking outlook would also be valued.
  • Strong drafting skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and can apply themself to preparing sophisticated and client friendly due diligence reports that focus on matters of particular importance to the relevant transaction.
  • Able to apply themself to complex and intricate transactions involving multiple jurisdictions and that require a more creative approach.
  • Communicates effectively on both a practical and intellectual level.
  • Demonstrates a keenness to learn and expand their experience.
  • An excellent team player.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Possesses strong organisational and transaction management skills and the willingness to drive a complex and time‑critical transaction to a successful and timely outcome.
