Sustainability considerations influence our entire value chain from communities located adjacent to our mines to our customers and the end consumers. It shapes our regulatory and social licenses to operate; impact on capital and operating costs; ability to recruit the best talent; response to investors’ expectations; and our approach to mining and marketing.
Sustainability is a critical part of how Marketing needs to set its strategy and to operate, including critically how it needs to select customers and position Anglo American’s material solutions offering with customers.
The purpose of this role is to provide general support to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Sustainability and the development and execution of Marketing’s Sustainability strategy
Key tasks include:
General Strategy Support
- Provide general support to the Commercial Strategy team as the sole team-member in Singapore
- Contribute and where possible lead work in (for instance) new growth opportunities, geopolitics and Marketing strategy
- Contribute to the 2026 board meeting process
- Contribute to any merger-related activities
- Act as the link between the Commercial Strategy, Sustainability & Market Intelligence team in London and colleagues in Singapore, and by extension between Group in London and CMTs in Singapore
Sustainability Strategy
- Support the head of commercial strategy & sustainability and collaborate with the London-based sustainability principal to develop a sustainability strategy in 2026
- Stay aligned with Group Sustainability (via the London-based sustainability principal) and Marketing commercial plans
- Remain abreast of global best practice regarding sustainability though benchmark analyses and update/finetune Marketing sustainability strategy accordingly
- Play an advisory role to internal stakeholders in relation to reputation management considerations, by monitoring and assessing the implication on our practice as well as Purpose and Values
- As part of providing customer solutions, define and work with the sales and marketing teams to create commercial solutions which add value
Ethical Value Chains
- Support iteration of the Responsible Commodity Sourcing Policy, in particular through applying asset-level experience
- Work with equity and third-party suppliers to ensure that we have the necessary controls in place to assure our customers that their material has been responsibly mined and sourced by Anglo American.
- Given our ambition to associate ESG credentials with our products. Work with the sales and marketing teams and functions to ensure that this is done in a manner which best positions Anglo American to compete and enhances the value of the Anglo or product brand.

- Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
Role requirements
- Understanding of climate change and what it will take to achieve a 1.5-degree pathway
- Experience and understanding of the many responsible sourcing standards and their evolution
- Experience and understanding of what comprises an ethical value chain and how to ensure it.
- Awareness of material / chemical risk management; hazardous waste management or similar
- An understanding of appropriate regulations and legislative environments related to material stewardship (e.g. global GHS/CLP regimes such as REACH / CSCL / TSCA, IMO)
