We are seeking a Senior Designer to fill a creative position. The successful candidate will be working on a variety of software products (iPad/mobile/web-apps) within an IT team as well as some design for print (exhibition/print ads/marketing collateral). You will be working as a creative in a largely technical team; therefore, creative and art working ability are key attributes rather than technical know-how, although awareness of technical considerations would be an advantage. Great examples of GUI design and experience with usability/user interaction would also be an advantage. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding team in a highly successful organisation.
You will look best in market, pushing standards even higher across primarily mobile and web, ensuring each one is polished and engaging.
Primary role – Digital design
• Provide creative styles for project briefs (typically UI design, print layouts, info graphics) including developing designs from concept to creation (working within a team of developers to create assets)
• You should be comfortable working within design guidelines or designing from scratch when required, with a split of approximately 20% art working
• Advanced use of creative suite is essential
• HTML, CSS, Flash experience an advantage
• Design for iPad, tablet an advantage
Primary role – Design
• Responsible for reviewing and improving graphical standards for all products in development
• You will be involved at an early stage in the product lifecycle and be key in suggesting graphical/creative ways to communicate content
Secondary role – Design for marketing initiatives
• You will be required to support our marketing team with design on an as needed basis (adverts, exhibition graphics, banners)
• Awareness of design for print is necessary
• Exhibition design experience would be an advantage
• > 2 years relevant industry experience
• Ability to challenge in a responsible, respectful and professional manner in order to achieve primary role
• Timely delivery of project objectives
• Ability to effectively balance multiple projects
• Ability to interpret and understand a brief, requirements gathering and creating documentation where insufficient provided
• Takes responsibility for own motivation
• Commitment to high-quality deliverables
• Contribution to team goals through core skills but also in a general/ad hoc/as project need dictates fashion
Project delivery
• Good communication with project manager/department manager
• Delivery of projects on time
Quality assurance
• QC of own work to high standard
• Insist on QC of work by at least one other in the team
• Regular, commented and accurate use of time sheeting software
