Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience delivering Urban Planning / Public Realm projects in the public or private sector.
- Familiarity with design, tender and construction processes, with international experience in the ME region an added advantage.
- Proficiency in design, project management and efficiency metrics.
- Knowledge of evolving professional standards, particularly those related to collaborative, multidisciplinary design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe CS5, MS Office, SketchUp and Google Pro; advanced BIM experience in Landscape Design / Infrastructure is a plus.
- Master's Degree in Urban Planning or Landscape Architecture from a university of international repute.
- CMLI & ASLA qualification is an added advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Capability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Logical, organized approach to project delivery with the ability to follow senior guidance.
- Awareness of the impact of delivery time on financial performance and proactive management of time, resources and budget.
- Ability to identify and communicate project concerns to the Line Manager.
- Mentoring and career progression support for subordinates and peers.
- Discussion of career goals and aspirations.
- Willingness to share information and knowledge with team members.
- Basic leadership skills to direct an interdisciplinary work group.
- Experience working in virtual teams is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects with complete design and delivery ownership, reporting to the Practice Lead.
- Take ownership of urban planning/public realm projects and work packages.
- Design‑manage multidisciplinary urban development projects across key business sectors.
- Liaise with key clients and technical/non‑technical stakeholders for positive project outcomes.
- Draft technical reports and contractual documents of acceptable technical and presentation quality with minimal guidance.
- Work to a project program and proactively advise senior leadership of any issue affecting efficient completion.
- Ensure team awareness of design standards, codes and country‑specific compliance within the ME region and MENA.
- Review work of project teams within LUDP and ensure deliverables meet Atkins’ standards and client expectations.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking to expand landscape & urban design business across regions and develop business within the practice.
- Contribute to bids and proposals to win work.
- Cross‑over design thinking between the three practice disciplines on large‑scale projects.
- Delegate and manage work to assigned project team Landscape Architects / urban designers / multidisciplinary proficiencies, achieving contractual obligations.
- Use business‑related software independently and guide junior team members.
- Identify and follow through on leads/suggestions associated with additional work prospects on involved projects.
- Travel to different Atkins offices and sites globally as required and interface with the team based there.
