Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) requires broad Data Center knowledge with Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in as many specific fields as possible. The location for this job will be in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its leased/ owned and operated Data Centers in India. This position will provide a leadership for a specific cluster of data center and across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers, Mumbai. This position will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space. It will also include event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and cost/contract management. In addition, this will include the relationship management with the landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction team, Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, Security team, and Logistics team in India. The position will require 24x7 on-call, scheduled weekend work support and rotational shift. The location for this job to be discussed, as there may be opportunities in several India locations.

This position will also be responsible for developing the team and leading them to the every success.

The Data Center Engineering Operations Cluster Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of the performance of the data centre infrastructure within the region. The role requires a highly driven, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems.

Key responsibilities
  • Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world‑class safety culture
  • The key performance metrics for a significant number of large‑scale Data Centres distributed across multiple Amazon owned and Co‑location sites (hosted by 3rd party service providers) by continuously driving improvements while delivering performance against agreed metrics
  • Delivering 100% uptime on all customer supporting infrastructure
  • Strategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on all mission‑critical infrastructure
  • Managing strong technical teams with responsibility for the training and/or development of others to ensure operational excellence
  • Successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic projects on critical infrastructure
  • The successful delivery of build‑out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new regional locations
  • Managing vendor performance by consistently setting high standards, driving accountability and conducting regular performance reviews
  • Risk Management: adopt and plan corporate risk strategy.
  • Critical Event Response readiness (planning, escalation/incident management, customer impacting event management response and recovery.)
  • Experience working and managing within complex organizational matrix, manage and grow relationships between cross‑functional teams.

Basic Qualifications
  • 12+ years of management experience
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
  • Experience with large scale mechanical and power systems
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering best practices including breaker coordination studies, switchgear sequence of operation, and NEC code
  • Experience owning the operation of a mission‑critical team or product
  • Experience with large‑scale technical operations or large‑scale compute farms
  • Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
