Responsibilities of Aircraft Maintenance Technician:
- Undertake responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of aircraft and its components.
- Perform maintenance tasks including assembling and installing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural systems.
- Check for corrosion, distortion, and invisible cracks using x-ray and magnetic inspection equipment.
- Clean, refuel, and change oil in line service aircraft.
- Conduct routine and special inspections as required by regulations.
- Inspect aircraft components such as landing gear, hydraulic systems, and deicers for cracks, leaks, or other issues.
- Prepare and paint aircraft surfaces.
- Remove, inspect, repair, and install in-flight refueling stores and external fuel tanks.
- Trim and shape replacement body sections to specified sizes, securing them with adhesives, hand tools, and power tools.
- Accompany aircraft on flights for in-flight adjustments and corrections.
- Cure bonded structures using portable or stationary equipment.
- Inspect airframes for wear or defects.
- Install and align repaired or replacement parts for riveting or welding.
- Maintain repair logs documenting all maintenance activities.
- Measure parts for wear and control cable tension using precision instruments.
- Obtain and check fuel and oil samples for contamination.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and specifications for repairs.
- Diagnose problems based on pilots' descriptions.
- Remove or cut out defective parts to access internal defects, using drills and punches.
- Replace or repair damaged components with appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Follow quality standards and comply with regulations and procedures.
- Perform any other functions assigned by the supervisor.
