Job description
Overview:
  • System Reliability: Develop, implement, and continuously improve Preventive Maintenance (PM) strategies using RCM and FMEA specifically for LV motors, switchgear, transformers, cables, protective schemes (relays), motor control centres (MCCs), and associated controls (contactors, starters).
  • AFD/RMCC Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for the reliability of all adjustable and Variable Frequency Drives (AFD/VFD) systems and associated Remote Motor Control Centres (RMCCs), troubleshooting complex electronic/control issues, analyzing failure modes, and mitigating harmonic risks.
  • Technical Support: Act as the primary technical advisor, providing specialized input on the design, selection, and specification of new LV equipment, motors, AFDs, and RMCCs to ensure inherent reliability and maintainability are built into new assets.
  • Failure Elimination: Lead and conduct detailed studies (RCA/RCFA) to eliminate chronic issues affecting high-value electrical assets, especially those related to the complex control failures. Track recommendations through to effective implementation.
  • Condition Monitoring: Oversee and interpret data from electrical condition monitoring programs, including Infrared Thermography and Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA), focused on diagnosing faults in LV components, motors, and drives.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct Life Data Analysis and Downtime Analysis to monitor all Reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTF) and prepare accurate downtime reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: University graduate in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in Electrical maintenance or engineering, with at least 3-5 years operating as a dedicated Reliability Engineer within a heavy industrial setting.
  • Core Equipment Expertise: Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), Remote Motor Control Centres (RMCCs), and their protective or control schemes (relays, contactors).
  • Specialized Control Expertise (AFD/VFD): In-depth knowledge of the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and failure modes of Adjustable/Variable Frequency Drives (AFD/VFD). Must be highly competent in troubleshooting drive electronics and associated control logic.
  • Standards Knowledge: Thorough understanding of electrical safety and maintenance standards, including NEC/NFPA and relevant IEEE/IEC standards for LV systems.
  • Condition Monitoring: Practical experience overseeing and interpreting results from electrical Pd.M. techniques such as Infrared Thermography and MCSA.
  • Systems: Functional knowledge of CMMS (SAP) and proficiency in the MS Office suite for analysis.
