ROLE SUMMARY

The SHE & Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that AstraZeneca’s facilities in Saudi Arabia consistently meet the highest standards of safety, health, environmental, and operational efficiency. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with Saudi government regulations, including the ongoing maintenance and renewal of all required building licenses. The SHE & Facilities Manager proactively manages risk, leads sustainability initiatives, and ensures a safe and productive work environment for all employees.

What you’ll do
Regulatory Compliance & License Management

Ensure all AstraZeneca Saudi Arabia facilities possess valid building licenses and permits and proactively manage their timely renewal in compliance with Saudi government mandates and local regulations.

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)

Develop, implement, and monitor SHE policies, programs, and initiatives to uphold legal, corporate, and industry standards. Conduct regular SHE audits, risk assessments, and inspections; address gaps, and lead incident investigations and corrective actions.

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and housekeeping of all AstraZeneca buildings to ensure safety, comfort, and business continuity. Manage service providers, maintenance contracts, and facility budgets.

Project & Contractor Management

Coordinate renovation, refurbishment, and fit‑out projects, ensuring all works comply with SHE and local regulatory requirements. Supervise contractors and third parties on‑site, ensuring adherence to AstraZeneca standards.

Sustainability & Energy Management

Lead sustainability initiatives for energy efficiency, waste reduction, water management, and green building strategies.

Emergency Preparedness

Develop and implement emergency response plans; lead regular drills and training for employees on fire safety, evacuation, and crisis scenarios.

Compliance Reporting

Maintain accurate documentation and provide timely compliance reports to government agencies (e.g., civil defense, municipal authorities), AstraZeneca leadership, and global reporting lines.

Stakeholder Engagement

Liaise with landlords, government authorities, service providers, and corporate teams to ensure alignment on compliance, licenses, and SHE objectives.

Continuous Improvement

Evaluate facilities and SHE performance, implement best practices, and identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.

Essential Capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Preferable minimum 7 years of experience in facilities and SHE management, ideally within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Saudi health, safety, environmental, and building regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring buildings remain fully licensed and compliant with government mandates.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and budgeting abilities.
  • Professional certifications in SHE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or facilities management (e.g., IFMA, CFM) are highly desirable.
