Job Purpose

To coordinate with the team in setting up and managing traffic control at roadwork and construction sites. This includes placing signs, cones, and barriers correctly, keeping traffic moving safely, and following safety rules and project instructions.

2. Principal Accountabilities
Policies, Processes & Procedures
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Implement and uphold safety and security protocols to protect the well-being of all employees and company assets.
Traffic Control Operations & Crew Coordination
  1. Coordinate daily activities of traffic control crews, flaggers, and technicians to ensure smooth site operations.
  2. Oversee installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic control devices including cones, signs, barriers, and message boards.
  3. Ensure all traffic control setups comply with SHC standards, local regulations, and project-specific traffic control plans.
  4. Conduct site inspections to evaluate traffic control needs and verify proper layout and safety measures.
  5. Prepare and execute traffic diversions, lane closures, and detours in collaboration with project managers and law enforcement agencies.
  6. Train and mentor junior crew members on safety procedures, equipment handling, and job responsibilities.
  7. Monitor job progress, document incidents, and maintain accurate daily work reports.
  8. Serve as the main liaison between field crews, management, contractors, and clients to ensure effective communication.
  9. Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and unexpected road conditions, prioritizing public and worker safety.
  10. Operate and maintain traffic control and safety equipment such as arrow boards, crash trucks, and light towers.
  11. Manage materials and equipment resources to support traffic control duties efficiently and effectively.
Miscellaneous Duties
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.
