Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Engineer – Technical Quantities to lead quantity take-off and estimation activities across multiple infrastructure and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting design documents, generating accurate quantities, and supporting the cost control, procurement, and project management functions.
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and traceability of technical quantities throughout the project lifecycle from concept through execution and close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, verification, and validation of quantities for all disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, etc.) across infrastructure projects.
- Extract quantities from 2D drawings and 3D models (e.g., from AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D) and produce detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) using recognized standards (e.g., CESMM, POMI, SMM7).
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to review construction drawings, IFC (Issued for Construction) documents, and ensure alignment with quantity data.
- Provide technical support to cost estimation, procurement, and planning departments through detailed quantity reports.
- Review and validate quantity reports prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.
- Support tendering and bid evaluations by providing detailed quantity breakdowns and assisting in pricing analysis.
- Conduct quantity variance analysis during design changes or value engineering exercises.
- Collaborate with BIM and CAD teams to ensure quantity take-offs are aligned with the latest model and drawing revisions.
- Perform on-site quantity validations as needed during execution phases.
- Maintain well-organized and auditable records of quantity calculations, assumptions, and revisions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in technical quantity estimation within the infrastructure, transportation, or construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of international standards for measurement (e.g., CESMM, POMI, NRM) and local market practices.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and quantity take-off software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Planswift, etc.).
- Experience working with 3D/BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and leadership skills; capable of mentoring junior staff and coordinating across departments.
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and execution sequences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, rail, metro, airports, utilities).
- Knowledge of contractual procedures, cost management systems, or project controls.
- Exposure to project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
