Job description
JOB SCOPE

Ensure the refinery engineering needs are provided with the accurate and quick real-time engineering solutions. Respond to any operational abnormalities and provide required engineering support and comply with Yasref strategies and operational priorities. Ensure timely engineering solutions are provided to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Design and develop engineering solutions to optimize plant assets and to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Provide timely contribution for engineering projects, including new installations, upgrades and expansions. Coordinate with various stakeholders and ensure engineering solutions are provided for successful project completion.
  2. Provide engineering solutions to maintain the plant assets throughout their life cycle. Provide technical support to OME teams during plant maintenance/shutdown or in order to resolve any technical issue related to engineering.
  3. Conduct evaluation and prepare the design modifications as approved by the change of management system or project management team. Prepare Design Packages for in‑house modifications and MOCs and carry out all the supporting design calculations.
  4. Make frequent plant visits and discuss operational issues with respective OME teams with purpose of resolving, upgrading, maintaining, and improving the equipment performance as required.
  5. Participate and contribute to troubleshooting meetings to address equipment failures, system failures and other process abnormalities. Discuss abnormalities with technicians, engineers, reliability engineers and operations shift.
  6. Conduct research on equipment, processes and systems to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and abnormalities. Regularly evaluate work, processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
  7. Conduct investigation on equipment failures, system failures and identify the root causes and provide sound recommendations to prevent future failure or incidents. Participate in root‑cause analysis on plant asset malfunctions and provide feedback to prepare reports.
  8. Regularly update the knowledge of industry best practices, document lessons learned, identify emerging technologies, regularly read industry publications and participate in professional development activities.
  9. Participate in various Plant Acceptance Tests and validate modifications or additions of equipment and systems. Assess and manage risks associated with plant assets and evaluate potential system failures. Implement protocols, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  10. Guide the development & update of the standards. Contribute to the procedures and objectives improvement. Carry out solutions as per defined standards or manuals.
  11. Support operation and maintenance during planned, emergency shutdown or disasters, provide technical assistance and assist in resolving emergency situations arising in operation related to equipment. Evaluate and review failure reports and shutdown incident reports and provide engineering recommendations.
  12. Guide the preparation of development/enhancement of engineering designs, studies, documents, calculations, technical bulletins, work instructions, guidelines, procedures etc.
  13. Conduct engineering studies, including engineering standards review, to improve plant integrity and reduce costs.
  14. Provide technical support to improve asset maintenance strategies such as maintenance strategy planning and capital spare strategy. Contribute to updating preventive/predictive maintenance task lists, work instructions etc.
  15. Evaluate the engineering proposals to ensure that the equipment or system meets YAREF standard requirements and enables the achievement of business priorities (HSE, reliability, profitability and continuous improvement).
  16. Fully comprehend and adhere to relevant safety and environmental policies as per YASREF standards. Participate in HSE activities (such as reporting near‑miss cases, proposing safety suggestions and safety quizzes) as required.
  17. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, computer engineering or equivalent.

Years of work experience

Eight (08) years of relevant experience.

Certification/License (Optional)

Certified as a professional engineer from a recognized engineering institute.
