Job Title: Quality / Lab Technician – Solar Utility

Role Purpose
The Quality/Lab Technician is responsible for conducting inspections, testing, and quality verification of solar tracker components, PV modules, and related materials. This role ensures that all manufactured and supplied components comply with industry standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements. The technician will support utility‑scale solar projects by performing laboratory tests, documenting results, and assisting in continuous improvement of quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Inspection & Verification
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on solar tracker components, structures, fasteners, and PV-related parts.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, material conformity, welding quality, and surface finishing.
- Ensure compliance with project technical specifications, QC plans, and international standards.
2. Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Conduct laboratory tests including tensile tests, hardness tests, coating thickness measurement, torque testing, and metallurgical evaluations.
- Test samples of materials such as steel, aluminum, coatings, lubricants, and fasteners used in solar trackers and PV structures.
- Maintain proper calibration and operation of laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, test results, NCRs (Non‑Conformance Reports), and corrective action records.
- Maintain accurate logs of laboratory tests, material certificates, and quality documentation.
- Support quality audits and prepare required documentation for clients and third‑party inspectors.
4. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, Saudi regulatory requirements, and internal QMS procedures.
- Follow standards such as ASTM, IEC, ISO 9001, and project‑specific QA/QC requirements.
- Assist in updating SOPs, work instructions, and quality checklists.
5. Production & Project Support
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Support project QA/QC teams by providing accurate test results and technical insights at all stages of production.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for quality failures and contribute to corrective action implementation.
6. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Follow all safety guidelines for laboratory and manufacturing environments.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of test samples and chemicals.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunction immediately.
Job Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
- Certification in quality inspection or material testing is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC, laboratory testing, or quality inspection.
- Must have hands‑on experience in utility‑scale solar projects or solar tracker/PV structure manufacturing.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of quality inspection, NDT testing methods, and laboratory testing procedures.
- Experience with testing tools such as:
- Vernier calipers, micrometers, hardness tester
- Torque wrench, ultrasonic thickness gauge
- Coating thickness meter and mechanical testing equipment
- Familiarity with solar tracker components, steel structures, and PV mounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC standards—ASTM, IEC, ISO, and project QA plans.
