Construction Manager – Fire Protection System Upgrade
Location: Offshore, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the full offshore execution of a fire protection system upgrade across multiple platforms. The role requires strong leadership in offshore construction, strict adherence to safety requirements, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high‑risk upgrade project safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Lead all offshore construction activities related to the installation of firewater pumps, foam systems, monitors, piping and associated suppression equipment.
- Ensure construction works follow approved drawings, specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Oversee demolition, replacement and refurbishment of existing fire protection infrastructure.
Planning & Coordination
- Develop, maintain and monitor detailed construction schedules aligned with overall project milestones.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Procurement and Marine teams.
- Manage offshore logistics, material movement and vessel/barge mobilisation.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure all personnel hold required offshore certifications.
- Oversee the work permit and approval process and ensure full compliance.
- Implement, monitor and improve the site safety management programme.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with relevant fire protection, mechanical and construction codes.
- Manage punch lists, mechanical completion documentation and pre-commissioning activities.
- Ensure proper documentation for handover including as-built records and construction dossiers.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with project teams, marine operations and platform personnel.
- Participate in progress and coordination meetings, providing accurate reporting.
- Support factory, integration, site and performance testing with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or similar.
- Minimum of 10 years’ offshore construction experience, ideally within fire protection or mechanical upgrade projects.
- Strong technical understanding of offshore fire protection systems, foam and suppression technologies, and associated piping systems.
- Proven experience with safety and permit-to-work systems for offshore operations.
- Project management certification is beneficial.
- Ability to prepare and maintain detailed micro-schedules.
