Job description

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role ensures that pumps, valves, pipelines, treatment units, and related mechanical equipment operate efficiently and reliably to support continuous water supply and wastewater treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, and maintain mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, compressors, tanks, and pipelines.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of mechanical systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults in treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
  • Assist in commissioning, testing, and startup of new mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate with operators, engineers, and other technicians to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues, recommending solutions or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations during all mechanical operations.
  • Respond to emergencies and breakdowns promptly to maintain continuous plant operation.

Skills
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, or utility infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, and treatment units used in water and wastewater operations.
