Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Operator to join our quality team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment including OES, XRF, ICP-OES, C-S Determinator, and O-N analyzer
  • Perform metallographic examinations including sample preparation and microscope analysis
  • Operate mechanical testing equipment such as UTM, CVN, and Hardness testers
  • Conduct material characterization and assist with defect/failure analysis
  • Follow laboratory procedures in accordance with ISO 17025 standards
  • Analyze microstructures of various materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, duplex stainless steels, and cast irons
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
  • Experience operating analytical instruments (OES, XRF, ICP-OES)
  • Knowledge of metallographic techniques and mechanical testing procedures
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 17025 laboratory standards
  • Knowledge of defect analysis or failure analysis techniques
  • Understanding of microstructural requirements for various steel types
