National Batteries Company (Battariat) is the first Saudi Arabian Automotive Battery Manufacturer, producing quality products based on Advanced German Technology from Varta Batterie AG, Germany. The National Industrialization Company (TASNEE) holds 90% of the company’s shareholding, with the remaining shareholding held by reputed businessmen of the country.
An exciting opportunity is available for Engineer II, SHE - NBC, based in Riyadh - KSA. This role reports directly to the GM, Batteries and Lead Products.
Summary
Monitor health and safety for the BU, identify unsafe behavior or regulatory breaches, assess risk, and design strategies to reduce potential hazards. Manage and train SHE staff, investigate incident reports, and create analytical reports of safety data.
Responsibilities
- Risk Assessment
- Conduct pre-implementation risk assessments on works when required and identify risk mitigation measures with Lines Leaders.
- Review risk assessments and visit sites to assess work for compliance with specifications.
- Corrective Action
- Act as a business resource for HSE related issues.
- Provide SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective actions, required resources, and implementation plans for NCRs issued.
- Follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented and requirements are complied with.
- Report on departmental performance where repetitive matters are not being addressed.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate inspections with local government officials, external agencies, industry representatives, consultants, NGOs, department staff, and the public, minimizing and correcting deficiencies.
- Meetings
- Conduct CSHE Committee Meetings to discuss safety matters, define defects/problems, and identify solutions.
- Conduct routine safety meetings to review new procedures and policies for all employees.
- Investigation and Corrective Actions Reporting
- Investigate root causes of SHE complaints from staff, customers, clients, and contractors.
- Coordinate and participate in investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify causes and preventive actions.
- Prepare monthly SHE reports (Dashboard), statistics, and presentations related to SHE performance.
- Emergency Procedures
- Ensure regular emergency drills and maintain records of such drills.
- Supervise inspection of firefighting, safety, and emergency equipment at the Plant.
- Assist in developing and implementing emergency response procedures and evacuation plans; ensure staff and visitors are informed and training records are updated.
- Audit
- Inspect workplaces for unsafe conditions/behaviors and identify hazards; provide corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Provide detailed audit reports with findings and non-conformities; monitor implementation of corrective measures.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Develop documentation, operational checks, and reports for compliance with OHSAS 18001/2007 and ISO 14001/2004 standards, including corrective and preventive measures.
- Review and amend standards, policies, and procedures for approval; ensure regulatory compliance for environment, health, and safety.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure adherence to RSS safety requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers or specialists to control hazardous conditions and protect workers.
- Induction and Site Files
- Ensure SHE induction for Operations employees, contractors, and site visitors at kickoff meetings and before entering operations.
- Job Safety and Analysis
- Establish Safe Work Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Instructions; monitor implementation and drive continuous improvement.
- SHE Administrative Duties
- Coordinate and track ongoing safety training for all employees.
- Support development and implementation of health and safety programs; establish relationships with Operations, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
- Schedule retraining after incidents and handle additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Engineering degree in a relevant field.
- NEBOSH IGC certification or equivalent.
- ISO 45001, 14001 or 9001.
Minimum Experience
2 to 3 years of related experience.
Knowledge & Skills Required
