Automation Engineer II

This is the second posting for our needs as we filled the first opportunity. This is a great opportunity for anyone seeking to get closer to family in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Maryland. The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy professional with a proven track record in the SDLC (system development life cycle) of automated computer systems within biopharmaceutical environments. We are pursuing both long-term team members and SMEs (subject matter experts) for consulting on a basis as appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Specify, design, and configure programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), manufacturing execution systems (MES), and data historians (OSI PI).
  • Work as part of an internal project team or at a client site, interacting with cross-functional groups to propose and assess modifications to equipment and processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and execute engineering documentation, operating/maintenance procedures, and commissioning and validation test plans for multiple process and utility systems.
  • Participate in software design specifications, design workshops, configuration, testing, site commissioning, and related lifecycle activities.
Overview – Project Context

Special project to increase production capabilities of a vaccine, including: implementation of DeltaV Batch system utilizing the PCSD libraries and DeltaV Live; full lifecycle activities from design through commissioning.

Travel Requirements
  • Most work can be performed remotely; start-up commissioning may require on-site presence.
  • Relocation, at least temporarily, may be needed if called in.
  • Expenses reimbursed at cost.
Requirements
  • 5+ years in control systems design and implementation with SDLC experience in automated systems (process controls, MES, and/or data management).
  • S88 Batch experience required.
  • Strong process knowledge and understanding of engineering documents, process control (PLC/DCS/SCADA), networks, and application engineering.
  • Experience with structured methodologies for manufacturing systems and programming skills.
  • Emerson DeltaV and/or Allen-Bradley controller experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or FDA-regulated industries is preferred, including development and execution of IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols for new or upgraded systems.
  • Able to be onsite when needed.
